CLICK-> 1969cv This 1969 GTO convertble now has a 455ci engine under the hood. Carole purchased this car on October 11, 1969 from Dave Waite Pontiac, 5200 N. Keystone in Indianapolis, Indiana. Carole says "It was Verdoro Green with black interior and a black convertible top. 400 automatic, with a 4bbl Carter carburetor, and factory AIR. This was one of 330 made in 1969. At that time I was not completely aware of just what I was buying. I have always loved cars and this one was what dreams were made of (at least for me). It was sporty but solid and as I had 2 boys, Brian age 6 ½ and Patrick age 4 ½, safety was a concern, but it was also VERY FAST!!!! And VERY quick off the line. (A Corvette found that out one day). This was a family car and as time moved on we discovered just what a jewel we had purchased. The GTO's were still very popular and of course the JUDGE was just the greatest. I would find notes under the windshield all the time, of people leaving their telephone number if I wanted to sell the car. I DID NOT! It soon became apparent that we had acquired a very special automobile."
You're looking at an engine put together by Bruce Fulper. It has a 421 crank in a 455 block with a Demon carb.

My oldest son, Brian took his driving test in the car. The boys were allowed to drive the car as teenagers with many restrictions. And they grew up appreciating just what the car was. But boys being boys, they had to try my patience few times. Brian and this best friend Scott decided to take the car out cruising one night when the parents were gone for the evening. Even though this was a forbidden thing to do. The next morning when I got in the car I discovered it had been out. I went upstairs, woke up Brian and asked why he had taken the GTO out the night before. He sat straight up in bed, (a first for coming awake suddenly) and asked how I knew. They thought they were being very clever as they marked where the tires were and the mirror and the seat and everything they could think of to put it back the way they found it. But, they forgot to change the RADIO STATION."
Busted!
CLICK-> 1969cv Carole Ray's 1969 GTO convertible was featured on the April 2006 issue of Smoke Signals. An article covers the car's frame-off restoration. It it, Carole writes, "Then came the day she was totally put together. March 18, 2005 she was brought home from one of the greatest "face lifts" ever created. I will never be able to express in words the admiration I have for Phil Riley who re-created this beautiful car. Following the flat bed I had tears of joy for most of the trip and some heart palpitations too. (And watched a lot of people turning their heads). She made it just fine, and was home and ready for the finishing touches. In the next couple of months we installed carpeting, restored the console, put in the dash, completed the wiring with a new wiring harness, put in the seats and everything it needed before start-up time."

This was our Picture Of The Week for 4/22/07. Deno tells us the details, "This GTO underwent a three year full body on restoration. It is an original 1969 Canadian GTO with owner installed Judge stripes, full functional Ram Air set up, tach, and spoiler. The engine is 406ci with ported heads by SD Performance, Comp Cam, 780 Holley, and Performer intake. It runs 13.2 in the quarter." The car is painted a color that is similar to the factory shade of Midnight Green.

It was our Picture Of The Week for 6/24/07. John tells us, "The engine code is YS - in theory 350hp not Ram Air. I know the history of the car from about 1978 and it has hood butterflies and plate but chrome style air cleaner?" Sounds like it has a Ram Air hood installed over a non-Ram Air engine.

This was our Picture Of The Week for 1-13-08. Windward Blue was a special order paint color in 1969. Jim adds, "It's been two years since I completed my project. Since then I have put a few thousand miles on her. I spent hundreds of hours to get her to this point but will admit it was more than worth it." Says Larry Parks (deuceguy.@city-net.com) - "I have not had a car in 15 years and would like to get back into the game. I can't tell you how many cars used to just follow me home. However I've been out of this for a long time and times have changed."
