Green 1969 GTO convertible, right rear view. The best way to verify the authenticity of a car is through a company called Pontiac Historic Services. Using a car's VIN number, they can look up the specific paperwork on a car. P.H.S. has a copy of the original archived papers and will send out copies for a small fee. They say that a high percentage of "GTOs" they research turn out to be a LeMans in disguise. That is no surprise, seeing as how a car bearing "GTO" nameplates is worth more money than a car bearing "LeMans" nameplates. The P.H.S. website is at http://www.phs-online.com CLICK->

Jim Carbone is restoring this 1969 GTO convertible. Here he's fix'in to replace the rear lower quarter panel. This is a common location for rust. You can see some of the pieces on the shelves of his garage. Jim commented, "I attached a few photos of the project I have had for some time. It is a chassis off restoration that today is nearing it's paint day." CLICK->

Jim cuts out the lower right rear fender. This is a frequent area for collecting rust. CLICK->
The interior, front wheels, and front end are masked off. The Windward Blue paint goes on. CLICK->
Here's a view of Jim's Windward Blue paint job from the other side. The plastic on the walls is a good idea. It keeps your stuff from getting paint on them. It also keeps any unwanted dust from getting on the fresh paint. CLICK->

Jim put the factory speckle paint in the trunk. It's gray with splatters of white and blue mixed in. You can purchase the paint in cans. All the colors are mixed in. The tail light bezels are back on along with a new rubber trunk seal. CLICK->
The rear side marker lights in the rear fender are in the shape of the Pontiac crest for 1969 GTOs. They even have the GTO letters on them. CLICK->

Jim added a hood tach. These are available as a reproduction item. They come with a hole cut out template. Original ones are fragile. They are easily damaged by slamming the hood. Reproductions are more durable. They are painted body color. CLICK->
