Can you tell what is different about Les Schwenk’s 1965 GTO drag car? See anything strange about his Bergundy Baron? Les's 1965 GTO drag car was seen at the Gateway International Raceway during the 2005 GTOAA International Convention. He's not the only person to have made a backwards-driving car. Check out this funny video of an all-wheel steering backwards-driving car in europe... Click to see Video CLICK->
Look again. Look at which direction Les is facing as he drives his Bergundy Baron. He is sitting in it backward. This is Les Schwenk's backward 1965 GTO drag car. You may begin questioning this man's sanity - right about now. One thing is for sure. He is having fun making you point and scratch your head. CLICK->
Here is a close-up of the driver's seat in Les's backward 1965 GTO drag car. In place of the back seat, there is a Grant steering wheel and a custom made dashboard. CLICK->
A view into the other side shows the mid engine configuration in Les Schwenk's backward 1965 GTO. The Pontiac engine has dual quad carbs on it. There is even a seat on this side. CLICK->
Rear view (or is this the front view) of Les Schwenk's backward 1965 GTO. He's got windshield wipers on the rear window. Headlights and turn signals have been added. This is a very confusing looking car. I have to stop looking at it now. CLICK->
Reef Turquoise 1965 GTO hardtop owned by Richard Fritsch from New Port Richey, Florida. This was our Picture Of The Week for 7/24/05. Richard's son Andy has this story to share, "This car was originally purchased by my cousin from Pace Pontiac in Tampa. He drove it hard for several years when he decided to park it in the late 70's to rebuild the engine. He then divorced his wife who kept the car in the garage for over ten years. She finally wanted her garage cleaned out and sold the car to my Father in 1988. The car was stored for many years until 1999 when the restoration began. This was a frame-off with some modern upgrades. We upgraded to disk brakes, added air conditioning, front and rear sway bars, ceramic headers, etc. After many trials we have finally completed the project. We are very proud. This Goat is a part of my Father and will stay in the family." We have this super cool shot in two additional sizes; 800-600 wallpaper and 1024-768 wallpaper. CLICK->
