We have several photos of this Montero Red 1965 GTO hardtop owned by Carl Fischer from O'Fallon, Missouri. This one has two tone paint, Montero Red on the bottom and white paint on the top. Carl tells us more, "This is an original paint, driveline and interior GTO ordered new with Tri-Power, Safe-T-Trac, 4-speed, 2 tone paint, A/C, reverb and a few other options. The car was delivered to the original owner on August 12, 1965 by Landers Motor Company in Lexington, Nebraska. In 1981 the owner put the car in Hemmings and a man from Fenton, Missouri flew out, bought it and drove it home. In the fall of 1983 the second owner put it in Hemmings and I bought the car. I sold the car to a man from Texas in December of 1984 and bought the car back in February of 2005, he had driven less than 5,000 miles over 20 years! I have been involved with GTOs for 40 years, from daily drivers to body-off concours restored to drag racers. I tried a Ram Air V set up in one of the race cars but it was never as quick or fast as the Ram Air IV stuff. This red and white GTO is still my favorite, more so than the Judges, restored, racers and all the others I have owned. To find a rust free, original paint car with these options, documentation and ownership history is a dream come true. It would be neat to know how
many original paint cars are left, cars that make a nice presentation, not cars sitting in a junk yard. If anyone reading this knows of such a car have the owner email me, I would like to correspond with other
