Jeremy McQuown sent in these pictures of his Blaze Red 1965 Tempest that he is restoring. Here's the story, "I acquired this car from a friend of my brother-in-law when I was 15. The guy had nowhere to keep it so I paid the tow truck driver $25.00 to get it to my house. That was in 1985. Incidentally, it was my first car. This will be the third time this car has been taken apart. (hopefully the last). I hope to be driving her by late summer 2003. This car originally had a 215 six cylinder with a 2 speed auto. I bought the 64 389 from a friend who went to a 455. I got all the 4 speed stuff from a 67 lemans parts car. I'm still looking for another donor car cheap." CLICK->
Here's a shot of the 389 in Jeremy's 1965 Tempest. What is that crazy-looking character sitting on the dashboard? It appears to be eyeballing the chrome air cleaner. The car has manual brakes. Note the lack of a big round brake booster unit behind the master cylinder. CLICK->
Jeremy says his interior's color is Metallic Red. You can't get much more red than that. Did he paint the dash pad Metallic Red as well? CLICK->
Blue 1965 LeMans 4-door owned by Jerome Carter from Newark, New Jersey. Jerome tells this story, "I was at the junkyard and I overheard a man saying he wanted to sell it. If he couldn't get a buyer, he was going to have it crushed. I couldn't sit there and let this beauty go to waste. It took me about a year to perfect it. I ordered the front bumper and tires and rims from California. It came with all of the original parts: A slant 6 cylinder and a 4-speed floor shift manual transmission. I converted it to a 5.7 300 hp motor with
an automatic three speed in the floor, with dual exhaust Flow Masters." CLICK->
Here's a view of the engine in Jerome's 1965 4-door LeMans. Notice anything unusual? The battery is on the wrong side? The alternator is on the wrong side? The picture is not flipped, because the brake cylinder and heater box are on their correct sides. A Chevy engine, I don't know for sure. Someone, help identify this engine maker. CLICK->

Daniel Kallison sent in this vintage picture of his uncle's 1965 GTO which he purchased in 1965. We have pictures of Daniel's 1965 GTO earlier in this lot. Daniel had this story to tell about his uncle's Iris Mist goat, "She was Iris Mist, which my father said was a great color, with the metallic silver chips in the paint. For one week she drove around town, until it was side swiped, crushing the entire passenger side in. Besides that, I don't know what happened with the car, if he kept it or sold it." CLICK->
Hurst wheels! These are a very desireable item to have on a GTO. If you find a set of boxes like this, you're in luck. These wheels sell for a thousand bucks a wheel, maybe more with these original Hurst boxes. CLICK->
The Hurst wheels are a nice design with bright flashy-looking trim rings. Each spoke has a recessed contoured area, trimmed in chrome. The center cap is chrome with a painted Hurst logo. As you can see, this particular Hurst wheel has a special wheel lock nut installed on it. To take (steal) the expensive wheel off the car, you'd have to obtain the correctly keyed lug wrench. Usually, the special lug wrench is not hard to find. Its in the trunk! CLICK->
This is a set of very used Hurst wheels as seen on ebay. They sold for a good amount of money. CLICK->
Iris Mist 1965 GTO hardtop owned by Larry Finkler. It's an original Tri-power car with a 4-speed manual and 3.55 gears. Larry has rebuilt the engine, rear end, and brakes. The engine is s now a 400 that is bored .060 over with 6X heads, a mild cam, and a 1966 Tri-power set up. The interior is blue. Larry plans to paint the car it's original color, dark blue. CLICK->

(Big 148K image) Another view of the Tripower engine in this 1965 GTO. Again, the color is called Iris Mist. Many people mistakenly call that color Irish Mist. It must be easier to say that way, I don't know. Its "Iris" because an Iris flower is usually purple-colored. Its not a GREEN flower, as "Irish" might suggest. Anyway, remember it supposed to be Iris Mist as in "purple flower". CLICK->
Here's a picture of a blue 1965 GTO hardtop that Dave Santagata owned back in 1975. This is a historic photo. The car has slotted mag wheels on it.
Here's a comment from a recent visitor...
Says Mike Barker (mbarker.@mentortech.com) from Maryland -"Thanks for the incredible restoration pics/information."
