Vintage pictures of a gray 1965 GTO hardtop owned by Rick Atwood (Lifetimben@aol.com). They were taken at the San Fernando Drag Strip in April of 1966. Here is what Rick had to say, "I bought the 65 GTO new in Canoga Park, California. (360 HP tri-power 4-speed, 3.90 gear). It would only run low 14's so I added an ISKY 310 hydraulic cam and kit, re-jetted, re-curved the distributor, Dougs headers, 4.33 rear gear, took out the 2nd head gasket, and cut out the hood scoop and added the factory air dam. I ran all the South California strips for one year until I was drafted and had to sell it. It's best E.T. was 13 flat and the best speed was 108 (both at the old Irwindale). It was never beaten by another street driven GTO and it would run 13.20's
all day long through the mufflers. I really hated to get rid of it. I have heard of other 65's running low 12's at the time but I really think they were disguised 421's." CLICK->
Black 1965 GTO sport coupe owned by Curt Forcum (cforcum@charter.net) from Fairview Heights, Illinois. Here's what Curt had to say, "I bought the car in 1984 and did a total resto on it in the nineties. It took about 5 years and a lot of paychecks. It has a 455 with a 65 Tri-power, 3:23 rears... O man the list could go on and on, but I did it all with help in my Dad's pole barn. Even the paint job we did in that barn (lol). It has always placed in the top 3 in car shows, and has won Best of show for the undercarrige." CLICK->

Says Jonathan Martel - "Very good work on the site, the best I've seen so far. I'm new to the muscle car scene and liked the GTO right away and your site is helping me fuel my passion."
