This Picture of the Week was drawn by Enrique Moreno in the tradition of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's artwork. The South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) is March 10th - 18th, 2006 in Austin, Texas. "Tales of the Rat Fink" will premiere. In this fun and comprehensive history, John Goodman narrates a journey through the cult status and international influence of hot-rod designer Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, creator of the popular "Rat Fink" character. The mostly animated bio features several wacky talking cars played by Jay Leno, Tom Wolfe, Ann-Margret, Brian Wilson, Matt Groening, The Smothers Brothers, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Paul LeMat, and Billy Gibbons, among others.

I'm trying to visit all 22 operating drive-in theaters in Indiana in the summer of 2006. I'm calling it the "UltimateGTO.com
Drive-In Movie Tour '06". It beats the HotRod "power tour" in number of popcorns consumed. Ha ha. This is stop number two, the Melody Drive In Theater near Knox, Indiana which is north of Winamac. The Melody offered double features showing 'RV' then 'Benchwarmers' on one screen or 'Take the Lead' and 'Scary Movie 4' on the other. What a great place! A well-kept facility with cool signs, fresh gravel, good food, and a colorful marquee out front. I saw "RV" starring Robin Williams. You won't believe that the song "Little GTO" appears in the movie at least three times. The husband and wife sing it in the RV while driving for quite a while. You hear "Little GTO" again as Robin Williams is climbing a red and white RV. And they play an instrumental version of "Little GTO" at the end of the movie! Have you visited a drive-in theater with your GTO? If you do, snap some pictures of your GTO at the theater and upload them to be posted on the site. CLICK->

Mayfair Maize 1968 GTO hardtop owned by Bruce and Paula Cummins from Metropolis, Illinois. This was our Picture Of The Week for 8-12-07. Bruce tells us more, "We are the 3rd owners with the others living in the same small town. The lady that bought it new, talked me into painting it the original color. I had owned the car several years but didn't realize I worked with her husband until the car was almost finished. I completed the self restoration in 1990. The paint is actually a single stage Cadillac color and not true Mayfair. A local upholstery shop installed new seat covers while the door panels and headliner are original. The drive train is rebuilt numbers matching 400 with His/Hers Automatic and cold air." CLICK->
