Red 1968 GTO with a black vinyl top sent in from Rick. It has a 400 with 12.5 to 1 and 4.56 12 bolt. Rick has this story to tell, "A 1968 GTO was purchased new by my mother and bought by me in 1976. I owned it for 14 yrs and sold it 11 years ago. I was recently looking for another project car and spotted this one in the paper. It sounded like my old car, and it was. I regretted selling it back then but knew it needed a frame off resto. I ended up buying it back with only 200 miles put on in 11 yrs. I am now going to do the frame off on it since I now have a facility to do it. Just finished building a nice rotisserie to make the project much more fun to do." CLICK->

Here's a vintage magazine article which describes the new Endura bumper on the '68 GTO, titled "Tiger with a Pussycat nose". It also goes on to state, "68 GTO has a new kind of bumper that promises to revolutionize auto styling and design." There were also TV commercials in 1968 which showed off the durability of this new nose. The commercials showed a man hitting the nose with a crowbar. When the original TV commercial came out, the guy just held the crowbar at his side when he was finished. Ford and Chrysler accused GM of using a phony crowbar. GM reshot the commercial. In the new version, after whacking the car's bumper, the guy drops the crowbar onto a steel plate on the floor resulting in a very loud CLANG! CLICK->
