Here is a blue 1966 GTO hardtop owned by Tim Wintjen from Moundville, Missouri. It has been a daily driver, a drag car, and now a show car. He says he bought the car 25 years ago at a salvage yard for $300.00. Then he put in a 350 and drove it daily for 5 years. Then he got the idea to put in built-up 400 engine and drag raced and drove it for the next 15 years. After 5 engines, his wife decided that was enough, so he gave it a new coat of paint, new interior and a newly built 389. Now they enjoy just going to car shows in it and occasilally a Saturday night cruise. CLICK->

This 1966 red LeMans is from Mike Embry. This is his car. Nice shot. I wonder what the red knob under the steering wheel is for? Jim from Buffalo, New York, wrote back, "I had the same thing in my 66 Goat,
its a 4 way flasher switch that was popular back then. I think 1967
is when they had the one that was in the steering column." CLICK->

Here is the 1966 GTO of Bill & Kari Banas from Rhode Island. It is Burgundy with a red interior. The engine is a 400 from a 1967 GTO. The Powerglide has been replaced with a TH-400, although the original shifter was maintained with a conversion kit from Shiftworks. Original 3.90's dropped to 3.55 to make it a bit more driveable for highway cruising. CLICK->

Bill & Kari Banas sent in these updated pictures of their burgundy 1966 GTO hardtop. Here's what they had to say, "Long story made very short; bought it from my best friend who lives in Georgia. It was allegedly rebuilt by the previous owner. Two years and lots of cash later, the 67 GTO 400 runs like a dream, the Wilwood front discs stop on a dime and give .09 cents change, the TH-400 w/ 3.55 Richmond gears
put the power to the road and the Holley Street Avenger carb and Dominator intake keep all the fuel and air moving nicely through the opened scoop and repro ram-air pan. We still have the interior to finish and fresh paint to apply, but that'll have to wait for another day! Oh yeah, almost forgot about the wheels. After the front Rally II's were stolen from the shop while the brakes were being converted,
I took the opportunity to add 15x7 Torq Thrust D's all around. (p.s. Aluminum radiator by Rodney Red (these guys are awesome to deal with) MSD 6-AL ignition, Mallory Unilite conversion, Powermaster starter, Jet-Hot coated Hedman Hedders and a roadcourse style oil pan, screen and windage tray)" CLICK->
