Here is a second photo of a burgundy 1966 GTO hardtop at the Moose Lodge car show in Gas City. Gas City is named for the boom town town that sprung up during the discovery of natural gas in 1887. During that time, many gas wells were drilled throughout the area. Gas streetlamps burned night and day. Glass factories had all the free natural gas they could use. The people thought the supply of natural gas was inexhaustible, so they used it lavishly. Well, they were wrong. The natural gas wells eventually ran out around 1900. CLICK->
Bob Kahn owns this awesome red 1966 GTO convertible. This was our Picture Of The Week for 9/16/07. Bob has owned this car for some time - at least nine years. How do I know this? Because Bob's GTO was also the Picture Of The Week way back in the winter of 1998! CLICK->

Montero Red 1966 GTO hardtop owned by Paul Constantine from Piedmont, South Carolina. This was our Picture Of The Week for 10-28-07. Paul tells us more, "I bought it in March of 2006 and just completed an extensive body restoration and paint job. The work was done by James Huff of Huff's Restorations in Powdersville, South Carolina. The car was originally Montero Red with a Parchment interior. When re-done, we elected to keep the original colors. The rims are Wheel Vintiques repro's of the Rally Is, but I used the chrome instead of the black inserts."
The banner at the top of this image may look familiar to some longtime visitors of UltimateGTO.com. It is the old banner that adorned the top of the home page for many years. The images on the banner represent several different years of GTO's. From left to right, there's a '69 Judge magazine ad proclaiming "The Judge Can Be Bought". Then there's a 1967 GTO with the eye-catching red fender liner option, a close-up of the arrowhead emblem on a 1968 GTO, a black-and-white photo of a 1964 GTO with the hood up, another 1969 GTO, Sean's photo, and another 1968 GTO in Verdoro Green on the right. Since that banner was retired, the Ultimate GTO website expanded to include all years of GTOs 1964 through 2006. CLICK->

Paul tells us more, "The engine is a year and option code correct 'YS' block 389 with 1967 670 heads. It's running a modest cam and has Dynmax headers. The original Carter AFB is sitting on top an Edelbrock P4B intake, and the factory 2-speed Powerglide was yanked in favor of a 3-speed TH350. The rear end is an open 3.23, but an Eaton Posi unit is in my foyer waiting to be installed." CLICK->
Another shot of the engine. The engine compartment looks just as good as the rest of the car. Now you know why the UltimateGTO.com editors picked it to be a "Picture Of The Week" in 2007. CLICK->
Burgundy 1966 GTO Sport Coupe owned by Kirk Meeker from Cranesville, Pennsylvania. It was our Picture Of The Week for 7/20/08. Kirk tells us, "The car was bought by my Dad in 1966 about three months before I was born. It still has the original paint with 52,396 miles on it. It has a 389 4-barrel with a 4-speed. I got the car in April of 1992 when my Dad passed away." CLICK->

The interior is white and black. The box above the two extra gauges in the center of the dash says "Stereo Magic" on it.
Here's a comment from a recent visitor...
Says Mike (GTOMIKE.@AOL.COM) - "This is the best and properly named GTO site on the web!!! It is nice to know that there are many other GTO enthusiasts out there."
