Victory Red 1966 LeMans hardtop owned by Oren Shorkey from East Haven, Connecticut. This was our Picture Of The Week for 10/23/05. Oren tells us, "I bought the car about five years ago. It was in decent shape with the usual rusty spots common on all old Pontiacs. About a year and a half ago I started restoring it. The engine, a 400ci, was rebuilt. A turbo 350 with shift kit was also rebuilt. I also replaced a lot of sheet metal. I did all the work myselft with the exception of the transmision." CLICK->
Oren added a GTO hood and chromed the hood scoop on his 1966 LeMans hardtop which is painted Victory Red. GM recently used the Victory Red paint color on many vehicles, most popular on the Hummer and on Corvettes. CLICK->

Red 1966 LeMans hardtop owned by Sean Craig in Auckland, New Zealand. This was our Picture Of The Week for 12/11/05. This car is stylin'. Sean Craig is the editor of a magazine called "NZV8". Here's what he had to say, "Just got given these wheels to try on my '66 Lemans... hmmmm... feel free to comment on what you think."
Please leave your comments in the "Viewer Comments" link below. Sean M: What brand and size are those big wheels? Sean C: They are V-1 Precision 100 spoke 20x8 inch front and rear. Sean M: Are they Photoshopped on or are they real? Sean C: ha ha ha ha. That's funny. I know being an editor I have great designers at my finger tips but yes they are for real. Getting changed over to Bonspeed wheels next year. 20x10 rear and 19x8 front. Sean M: What do you do during a typical day at the magazine? Sean C: My day always starts off great. I drive my Lemans to work every day. After checking my emails in the morning each day is never the same. The magazine comes out each month so there's always lots on. If I'm not organising cars to be shot for the magazine I'll be cruising in the Pontiac visiting clients. Or driving a car to test for the mag. It's a great job that's for sure! Sean M: How did this particular LeMans end up in your posession? Sean C: I did a search on the internet. I was actually just browsing and not actually after a car. Then I saw a photograph of my car. I just had to own it! Turned out my mechanic new the people selling it. In fact it was just around the corner from his workshop so we walked down the road and the rest is history. Sean M: Ever seen any Hobbits? Sean C: I have several working for me.... they drive Mustangs :) Sean M: What's the largest car show held in your area? ...any other Pontiacs there? Sean C: The Kumeu Classic and Hot Rod Show is one of the biggest. Couldn't tell you the exact numbers... heaps! Also the Beach Hop. Over 2500 cars that take part in a cruise and show. As for other Pontiacs there aren't that many down here in NZ. In fact I've been told there are only three '66 Lemans. I know of only two 66 GTOs and one 65. I'm sure there are more. Heaps and heaps of Camaros and Mustangs down here. Sean M: Is it true that if you take a long drive, you end up in the ocean? Sean C: Ha ha ha ha... make that short. Two minutes from home and five from work. Then 20 mins later I can be on the other side of the country. Although the city I live in has a freeway through it that is over 50 miles long... but only just over a millon people. Lots of space :) Sean M: Neat car. But you knew that. Sean C: The Pontiac has ended up becoming the NZV8 magazine project car (hence the wheels). The plans include big brakes (15 inch discs with 6 pot callipers), upgrading the suspension and running a Procharger supercharger. All the mods are being done in a way that I can return the car back to original.

Take a trip back in time. This 1966 LeMans has the same look as it did back in the 1970s. It is owned by Eddie Martinsson from Sweden. This car is jacked up so high that the underside is painted too. It has lamps or reflectors mounted under the bumper so that you don't mistake it for low flying aircraft at night. CLICK->

Take a look at this 1966 GTO drawn by Ed White! This was our Picture Of The Week for 4/16/06. Ed had this story to share, "The '66 is from when times got good. It is a theft recovery that ended its natural life by hitting a culvert. The running gear is from a top fuel funny car that happens to be a KB with water passages. The hood, fenders, doors and deck are fiberglass. It has a full factory interior, all the lights , wipers and turn signals work, even has a CD player in it. The exhaust is made up of 3 inch zoomies, 6ft long that pass through a specially designed 4 in 4 out pair of 'mufflers'. This car is fully street legal, licensed and
inspected (in the story) with 6000 hp. Check it... a street car that
turned a best 1/4 time of 6:02 sec and can drive home (slowly) in the rain." This drawing would look great as your desktop wallpaper; 800-600 wallpaper and 1024-768 wallpaper.
