Tom sent us another batch of pictures of his Barrier Blue 1966 GTO hardtop. Since the first pictures, he has added a 6.5 liter license plate on the front, the antique plate on the back, and the replaced antenna which was damaged when the car was shipped. This Barrier Blue is a nice color. By the way, more and more car owners are telling us the proper names of the paint colors when they submit their car photos. That is a big help. Knowing the color names helps us set up search parameters so the "Picture Searcher" can pull up photos by the color names. That means if someone wants to pull up the Picture Searcher and try and find all the "Barrier Blue" cars, it will work better than just having to search for "blue". CLICK->
Right rear view of Tom's Barrier Blue 1966 GTO hardtop. The car has Cragars on it. Through the years, the "SS" model of wheel has been quite popular. Back in the 60's, many owners would remove the stock wheels and put on some Cragar SS wheels right away. If you're thinking about changing over to Cragars, the company has a web page at http://cragar.com CLICK->
Barrier Blue 1966 GTO hardtop, with the hood open. GR-RRR! The car appears to have an aluminum intake manifold on it. You can also see the tall valve covers held down with the long holddown bolts. A tiger is guarding the whole setup. Tigers are popular to display with cars at shows since the tiger was the mascot for the GTO in advertising campaigns. If you get in the mood to purchase a tiger, there are some for sale in the "GTO Store" section of this website. CLICK->
Barrier Blue 1966 GTO hardtop, trunk view. One of the great things about the 1966 GTO's was the tail light setup. They had a louvered look to them. Also, looking at the car from the rear, the ends of the quarterpanels were upswept, and highlighted in bright trim. Man, what a neat design! The next year, in 1967, they changed both of those styling attributes slightly. They gave the tail lights and the ends of the quarters a different treatment. CLICK->
Tom has updated the interior in his 1966 GTO hardtop. Some of the new items are a wood steering wheel, wood grain dash, all new door handles, window cranks and ashtrays, and all new pedal pads with stainless trim. CLICK->
Tom has added new valve covers and air cleaner to replace the Edelbrocks that were on his 1966 GTO hardop. CLICK->

Platinum 1966 GTO hardtop owned by Allen Tepper from North Olmsted, Ohio. Allen comments, "I purchased the car about 2 years ago (in 2001). The body and most of the interior were done already. I did a complete mechanical restoration to it: rebuilt 400 motor, 4 speed tranny, rear end; all new suspension with urethane bushings throughout; added a rear sway bar; all new wiring, gas tank, fuel and brake lines - the works; upgraded to power disc brakes on the front; added 'options' like remote mirror, rear defogger, rally gauges, power trunk release, and underhood and trunk lights. The car rides and handles like a dream. I hope the other GTO nuts enjoy the pics." CLICK->

Red 1966 GTO hardtop owned by Al Swearingen from Lakewood, Washington. Al had this to say, "I found this car hidden away in a car port. It had been sitting there since 1982 when the owner decided to repaint it and never did. It has 82K original miles, and owner claimed it had never been driven in the rain. Since there is absolutely NO RUST anywhere on the car, I tend to believe him. I'm still in the middle of the restoration so not everything is done yet. It's a poverty cap car so look for the pics with them on in the future. Factory options include: WS Tri-Power 389 engine, M21 close ratio 4 speed transmission, 3.90 posi rear end, Rally gauges, wood wheel and shift knob, ride and handling package, AM radio with reverb, and more, but what's real nice is that everything is there! Bad news, .... my wife
says one of the GTO's has to go!" Al's got a Plum Mist 67 convertible and a triple black 67 convertible pictured in the 1967 parking lot. PICTURE SET CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE ...

Says Cheryl (cwatkin2.@columbus.rr.com) - "Looking for a 1967 GTO. Husband sold it before he realized he should have gotten rid of his ex-wife first!!!"
