1966 gold GTO with a black vinyl top featured in this vintage two page magazine ad. The car picture has the rare red fender liner option. The ad states, "To all the other cars from the GTO: What's new, pussycats?" Pontiac often used tigers or references to tigers in their ads. Former Pontiac marketing man Jim Wangers tells a story about an incident when they tried to use a tiger in a TV advertisement. They were filming a 1966 GTO commercial when they put a tiger in a car. Something spooked it and it just went nuts. Everybody on the filming crew ran away and after about 20 minutes, the tiger tired itself out and the animal trainer was able
to get it back in the cage. The car interior was damaged. Unfortunately, nobody left their camera on, so the episode wasn't caught on film. CLICK->
Vintage magazine ad for the 1966 GTO. The text in the ads during this era made for interesting reading. They were usually bold and
written in a hip style. This ad states, "Speak softly and carry a GTO." CLICK->
Pontiac people can appreciate a GTO, or a LeMans, or a Tempest. So here we have a fine example of a Tempest for 1966. This one is a white hardtop featured in this two page vintage magazine ad. The ad states, "GeeTO Tiger, Jr." CLICK->

This is a 1966 GTO convertible in Montero Red with a black top. It is owned by Marcus Rinaldi. It has the Tri-Power 389 V-8, 2 speed automatic transmission, original wheels and center caps, refinished original spare tire and jack. The engine and drivetrain are original with matching numbers. So far he's added Date-Coded spark plug wires, duplicate foam air cleaner elements, rebuilt the front end suspension and steering components, replaced the padded dash, and refinished the original Harrison radiator. The exterior of the car has had no major bodywork, only refinishing the paint and repairing minor scratches. The engine and transmission have been rebuilt in the past, but plans are being made to redo them over once again. The chassis has approximately 120,000 miles on it. CLICK->
