Mark's Judge has the Ram Air III engine, 4-speed manaul transmission, Saf-T-Track differential, and the lamp group. This Judge was originally purchased from Central Pontiac in Seattle, Washington. Mark found this car in 1999 parked in a barn with 1979 tags on it. He heard it was parked in the barn because the clutch went out. He said it was real dusty and you couldn't even tell what color it was. Mark detailed the car, rebuilt the engine, and went through the suspension & all fluids.

This was our Picture Of The Week for 3/30/03. Dave told this story, "I bought it back in 1981 from the original owner. The car was sagging 2 inches on the driver's side and the engine wouldn't start. It was dinged up and in overall bad condition. The paint was mostly gone and surface rust was everywhere. But it was a complete Ram Air III 4-speed car. I completed the restoration in 1985 and it's been pretty much as in the photo ever since. I've won a few trophies with it in local car shows including best stock engine at the 1999 Cache Valley Cruise-In. I've rebuilt the engine, transmission and third member myself in 1991. I pulled out and have the numbers correct block in storage. I dropped in a +.030' 1973 455 block with Speed Pro forged pistons and the Warrior racing 4 bolt cap kit on the bottom end along with their stud kit. All the original Ram Air III stuff is bolted onto the now 462' motor. It runs really good here in Utah. My G-Tech performance runs were 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and 1/4 mile in 12.89 @ 113 MPH with severe traction problems on the tiny 295/50 T/A's out back. My best 0-60 time was from a dead stop using second gear and wrapping second out to 6200 RPM. Yes, it revs now that I have the Comp 305 cam in it. It's a monster Hydraulic with 254 @ .050' duration but it runs strong on it. Plus, it's running a calculated 12.5:1 compression now."

It has a green interior and green vinyl top. This was our Picture Of The Week for 6/22/03. Charles tells us this story, "This '70 Judge was shipped to City Motor Company, Valdese, North Carolina on 5-20-70. I personally purchased the '70 Judge nine months later. Purchased price at that time was $3,786.40. The car underwent an off-chasis restoration in 1999. I personally completed 75% of the process. Diamond Enterprises Performance Racing Engines rebuilt (Balanced and Blueprinted) the engine to 525 hp. The body parts are all original - the car has never been wrecked."

CLICK-> 1970 Has viewer comments Here is a spectacularly detailed model of a 1970 GTO. This was our Picture Of The Week for 8/10/03. The basic kit was modified to add the details that make it look more like a real car. Matt Gavigan tells us how he did it, "It started out as the MPC kit that came out in the 1980's. I added the vinyl roof as the kit roof was damaged. I also scratch built the Rallys using the centers from the Monogram '69 GTO kit a some mag wheel outer halves because the ones in the MPC kit didn't look right. I also used the engine and front suspension from the same Monogram kit, plus some other stuff like the rad shroud and inner fenders, etc., as the Monogram 1969 GTO kit is well detailed and easy to find at the hobby shop. I made the front wheels poseable as well. The rear spoiler is scratch built out of sheet styrene. I made a mold of it if anyone out there would like a copy in resin for their Judge project. (E-mail me for details at m.gavigan@shaw.ca). The decals came from Fred Cady Design and I would recommend them as they are excellent quality. I thought I would paint it gold as all you seem to see are Orbit Orange cars all the time, and it turned out pretty good after polishing and clear coating. I had fun building this project so much that I am currently working on a 1972 GTO pro-mod car using the MPC kit from the 1980's as well as the chassis from the Soft-Seal 1957 Chevy that was put out by Revell a few years back. I'll send photos of that one when it's done."
CLICK-> 1970 Has viewer comments Here's another view of Matt Gavigan's super detailed 1970 GTO Judge model. You can get a closer look at that spoiler that he created. Seems as you could actually walk up to it, get in, and start it up! Look at all the details such as the lettering on the hood scoops and the hood tach, the woodgrain on the dash, the shiny chrome around the vinyl top, lettering on the tires, white detail on the backup lights, etc.
CLICK-> 1970 Another left front view of Matt Gavigan's 1970 Judge model kit. The lug nuts even look real. Through the internet, there are now many more sources of detail parts for modelers. You can find places that sell decal sets. There are photo-etched details such as license plate frames. You can buy the shiny foil that rubs onto window trim, and more. Notice how Matt has added extra parts to resemble details not found in the stock kit. There is a hood pusher-upper loop in the front of the engine compartment just like the real cars have. Somehow he reproduced the stickers usually found in the radiator area. He made little black rubber bumpers for the inner fenders. He's even replaced the lame hood hinges that come with a kit. He's using a more realistic-looking hinge with actual springs.

This was our Picture Of The Week for 9/7/03. Thom commented, "My brother Bob originally bought this Ram Air III Judge out of Marlyland about 13 years ago and restored the car. I detailed the engine and have been replacing parts, whenever possible with NOS. I rate it as a strong #2, we drive it about 500 miles per year. This is a PHS documented Judge, with less than 25,000 miles. It was built for Pontiac Engineering Development and is purported to be a Maryland Zone car. It is packed with 29 factory options including: cruise, air, AM/FM stereo, power windows, locks and seat. It is one of 1003 Judge Ram Air III hardtops with the turbo hydramatic transmission. We added Thorley headers for the sound, but kept all the original exhaust components for the time when she becomes a trailer queen."

Says Sid Clevinger M.D. (DOCCLEV.@aol.com) - "I have a 1970 Judge (Orbit Orange). I was looking for a picture to use as wallpaper on my screen. I found a great 1970 Orbit Orange Judge emblem from a side view. Thank you for your hard work in the creation of this site."
