... PICTURE SET CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE CLICK->NEW POST Detail of the tail light on a 1968 GTO. This layout differed from the Tempest and the GTO. CLICK->NEW POST Close-up view of a 1968 LeMans rear quarter emblem layout. Modern cars seldom have a model designating emblem on the sides. However, in 1968, it was easy to see the model name. CLICK->NEW POST Left rear view of the Schafer's 1968 LeMans vinyl top car. CLICK->NEW POST The interior is pretty much stock. CLICK->NEW POST A 1968 GTO had this cool race plate frame. I don't often photograph just the plate, but this one caught my eye: "GONE RACING. BE BACK IN 9 SECONDS." CLICK->NEW POST This Custom-S has a bunch of customer customization. This car was on the racing side of the track, and it had several mods visible. The shaker scoop, stripes, and Rally wheels. CLICK->NEW POST Every year I am drawn to this car to get some photos. The 1969 GTO has an elaborately-painted mad goat on the hood. CLICK->NEW POST Chrome wheelie bars. CLICK->NEW POST This logo is painted on. Says "GTO 537 C.I.D." CLICK->NEW POST A big part of the weekend is the car parts swap area. People come from all over the country to sell their extra parts. On the ground, I found this interestingly funky 1969 GTO hood. The underlying color suggests it might have been on a Carousel Red Judge at some point. The designs on the blue paint suggest it was then installed on a 70's era customized car. I would have liked to see what the rest of that blue car looked like. Was it a funky geometric diamond theme throughout? CLICK->NEW POST Also in the swap meet was this early production 1969 GTO Judge for sale. It was on a trailer the whole time. It was a popular car, with many guys stopping to put their hands on it. I returned to the car several times to try and get a set of photos of the car. This dude tagged it and would not let go of the bumper. CLICK->NEW POST The 1969 Judge on a trailer, next day with more fans. More dudes hanging on the car, reluctant to let go, even for one second. CLICK->NEW POST The only clear shot I could get was this window information. Do you know if a 2/26/69 date was early production? If Brian tells you the car is "sold", please let us know. CLICK->NEW POST The rear of the car shows a little surface rust. Well, really it's total rustout. CLICK->NEW POST I elbowed through the crowd to get a shot of the engine compartment for you. Wow, the original Ram Air pan stuff is still there. In the center of the photo is the block code number. No wonder the guys were hugging this car all weekend.
