A cool shot of the three stock 2004 GTO Drift Cars. This was sent in by Goatff71@yahoo.com. If you've got photos of this event, feel free to upload them via the Self-Upload link on the main menu. CLICK->
This kid looks happy. He just got to ride with a professional Drift Driving Instructor from Bondurant Performance Driving School. There's a Yellow Jacket GTO in the background out on the course. These guys put on quite a show with their stock 2004 GTOs. Anyone who wore a helmet and took a ride with these guys came out grinning from ear to ear. CLICK->
If you think these drivers weren't pushing their drifting 2004 GTOs hard, take a closer look at this stack of trashed tires. These were hot, with cords burned out of the rubber. Just the thing to please a crowd who likes tire squealing demonstrations. CLICK->
They set up a little area just to change the 2004 Drift car tires. The drifting demonstrations where one day only. Here are a few more
of the tires that were trashed that day. There's one in there with ZERO tread left. CLICK->
Here is a close-up of one of those drifting tires. Ouch! This one is about to blow. CLICK->
Here's another satisfied (or woozy) passenger that was just subjected to a live Drifting Demonstration. Those helmets serve two purposes. One, in case your ride overturns. Two, to protect your head as it bumps into everything in the car - including the driver's own helmet. CLICK->
You cannot appreciate Drifting with still photography. Click here to see a MPG movie I took which shows the Torrid Red 2004 GTO doing a Drifting Donut. This movie requires a media player to view. CLICK->
Tim Sickle sent in his video of the Bondurant instructors drifting a Torrid Red 2004 GTO. This one is way cool. It requires a media player to view. CLICK->
The last big event in the Drifting course was a high speed turn. Click here to see it. The cars probably got to nearly 100mph then entered this hair-pin. This was ususally done one car at a time. At the end of the day, the professional drivers drove the cars harder and closer together. No civilian passengers were in these cars. This movie requires a media player to view. CLICK->
A duplicate of Rhys Millen's Drifting 2004 GTO was on display at the "Pontiac Performance Drive Event" at the Silverdome. Later, it was moved to the GTOAA Convention Hotel. The car is owned by Rhys Millen Racing - RMR. See the black truck in the background? Tom Whitmire wrote to fill us in on that... "You do have a couple pictures of my rig on here and I like to see that. I am the program manager for the Pontiac "The Last Ride Tour" and the Pontiac GTO Performance Tour. Our "Last Ride" tour includes the '69 Judge and the Red Modified 2004 GTO. We have them with a forty five foot trailer and they are available to be booked by dealerships or festivals or anybody that would like them at an event. The performance tour includes the '67 xXx car, the GTO Drifting car, '64 GTO, and an NHRA Drag racing car. You would have seen our display set up at the Silverdome for the Ride and drive. I would like it if you could post our information and make it known that our tour is available to book. If somebody or group wants something like this, I want them to be able to know where to find it and I don't know a better place than your site. I am the main contact for questions and bookings and you can post my information. Have a great day and keep up the good work because GTO fans do appreciate it. Feel free to call me if needed." Rhys Millen's Drifting 2004 GTO, right rear view. This one has a big rear deck lid spoiler. CLICK->
Stylin' with a Sparco wheel. Rhys Millen's Drift 2004 GTO, interior view. Just the bare basics in here. Looks like the stock top part of the dash. The rest is gone. A couple of seats and the basic shifter and brake lever is all that is needed. Red Gauges? Those are from a Phantom Black, Quicksilver, or Torrid Red 2004 GTO. CLICK->
Rhys Millen's 2004 GTO Drift Car, seat view. Its a Sparco Evol seat. He was on hand to sign autographs during the day. CLICK->
This is the sign in front of Rhys Millen's 2004 GTO Drift Car. The engine HP was increased from stock 350hp to 490hp, the 3.46 rear was replaced with a 3.91, and the tires were increased from a 17" rim to 18". CLICK->
This concludes the coverage of the 2004 GTOAA International Meet. Just for fun, here's one last picture of the Coors Light Girls, me, and my GTO. What a great time.
