CLICK-> LS2 Engine Let's take a peek at the 2006 LS2 out of the GTO. Key LS2 V-8 features include: aluminum block casting with 4.00-inch cylinder bores and optimized oil galleries, high airflow aluminum cylinder heads, flat-top piston design with low ring tension for reduced friction, floating piston wrist pins that help maintain quiet engine operation, high-efficiency low-energy ignition coils, 10.9:1 compression ratio, large 90-mm single-blade throttle body, reduced-mass water pump design, and a powerful engine controller that incorporates all electronic throttle control functions. This baby has a 6500 rpm redline. This thing is pretty quick when combined with their 4-speed automatic or 6-speed manual connected to the 3.46 axle. Check out our Top Speed Calculator loaded with standard 2006 GTO drivetrain specs.
CLICK-> 6-Speed Manual This is the optional 6-speed manual transmission that you can get when you order a 2006 GTO. It's a Tremec T-56 M12. Beside the 2006 GTO you can get this transmission in the 2006 Cadillac CTS-V.
CLICK-> 4-Speed Automatic Here is the 4-speed automatic transmission that comes standard with the 2006 GTO. It's a Hydra-Matic 4L60-E M32. This one is used in many 2006 GM models such as the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 2500, GMC Sierra 1500, GMC Sierra 2500, Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade EXT, Chevrolet SSR, GMC Sierra Denali, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL Denali, Hummer H2, and Hummer H2 SUT.
CLICK-> Red Brakes The brakes are 4-wheel vented discs, power assisted with a 4-channel anti-lock braking system. The front ones are painted red with the GTO painted on them. The standard wheels are 17 inch alloy with P245/45ZR-17 W-speed rated tires. Optional are 18 wheels and tires.

CLICK-> Mike's 06 GTO concept Has viewer comments Mike sends in his version of what the 2006 GTO Judge should look like. He started with the Woodward 2004 GTO concept. He recessed and simplified the grilles and applied a two tone, gold over gray paint job.

As with the 2004 and 2005 GTO models, we post GTO concepts created by imaginative site visitors. These concepts have been very popular and have helped to shape the looks of body kits for the 2004 GTO as well as the 2005 GTO. Maybe your ideas will be seen on the upcoming GTOs?

CLICK-> Richard's 2006 GTO Concept Has viewer comments Richard Hump sends in his concept of what the new GTO should look like. He modified the front with hideaway headlights placed into 1969-like grilles. I've noticed that most of the concept cars try to improve upon Pontiac's small and subtle "GTO" letters on the grille. The "GTO" letters on this car are bold and easy to read.
CLICK-> Richard's 2006 GTO Concept Has viewer comments This is the rear end of Richard's concept GTO. He changed the spoiler to a high ducktail and cleaned up the rear lights. Do you like his concept artwork? Leave comments below.

CLICK-> Bob's 2006 GTO concept Has viewer comments Bob Purdie concept of how the new GTO should look. Stacked headlights and a hood scoop similar to the 65-67 GTOs. Bob has drawn other GTO models as well. Click here to see them using the Advanced Picture Searcher loaded with condition=artwork and owner=Bob Purdie.

CLICK-> Adam's GTO Concept Has viewer comments Adam Wehrer shares his vision of what the 2006 GTO could look like. He modified his 2005 concepts with extended grilles, hideaways, and remote door entry (no door handles). Click here to check out Adam's 2005 GTO concept drawings using our Advanced Picture Searcher loaded with model=GTO, year=2005, owner=Adam Wehrer, and Visible Options=concept.
CLICK-> Adam's GTO Concept Has viewer comments Rear view of Adam's 2006 GTO concept. He also extended the rear spoiler and chromed the lower edge of the ground effect.
CLICK-> Adams Concept #2 Has viewer comments Here's another 2006 GTO concept by Adam Wehrer. He's changed the hood scoops and merged front grille into one.

CLICK-> 2006 Has viewer comments This is a 2006 Next Gen GTO sketch. It was made by Marc Senger in October of 2004. He based the sketch on a 4-door Holden Torana concept car which was first seen at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney on 10/7/04. Marc wants some feedback on his design, "Hello. I'm an industrial designer in Detroit and I came cross your site while doing research. Being a GTO enthusiast, I thought you might get a kick out of a sketch I based on the recent Holden Torana show car. The new design has the same wheelbase, but is now a 2 door with a unique roofline, front and rear fascias, new rocker extensions, and specific ram-air hood. Any input/critique is welcome. I only work for an automotive supplier, but love doing this in my spare time. Thanks!" Feel free to leave your comments in the "comments" section, below.
In the past, Marc has participated in a school design assignment for Detroit’s Center for Creative Studies-College of Art and Design (CCS). He and other students redesigned the Hummer as an exercise. He went to Southfield, Michigan to unveil his work at the 12th annual vehicle concept unveiling sponsored by American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). His version of the Hummer featured a turbine engine. He received some positive press for his efforts, including a December 2000 writeup in Ward's Auto World. Here's another design he did which you might also like.
CLICK-> 2006 Has viewer comments Here's another GTO concept sketch by Marc Senger. He calls it a "Mid-cycle enhancement". Check out the arrangement of the headlights and the grille.

CLICK-> 2006 Has viewer comments This is brilliant. Larry Williams of Illinois shows us his ideas on the next GTO design. He included a hardtop version and a convertible version. Larry says, "I've based my design on the current platform, keeping the same overall proportions. Instead of a rounded look though, I've used strong influences from the '66-67 GTO. Hope you enjoy."
What do you think of Larry's work? Tell us by responding with a comment below. Do you have any ideas of what future GTOs should look like? If so, draw it up and send it in.
