NEW POST Tom Malone owns this two tone Cyclone Gray over Quicksilver 2005 GTO with a set of custom hood scoops. He calls it a GTO Shark. He used a stock hood to attach these functional hood scoops. He has cold air induction on the engine to breathe through them. He moved the window washer ports to the wiper assemblies. He fabricated custom billet (grilles) for the hood scoops which match the bumper grilles he purchased. He says the cost for the custom work was $2,000.

NEW POST Quicksilver 2005 GTO owned by Robert Holden Jr. from Janesville, Wisconsin. Roberts tells us more, "I purchased it used (4,700 mi) in December 2006. Love & HATE it. I use it as a work car. It gets 20 mpg every tank. I use mid-grade and premium in the summer, spring and fall. I use mid-grade and reg during the winter. I don't drive it very hard. I'm 61 years old and have a HOT Rod 79 Malibu 406' road car with 500+ lbs of
torque. The Malibu runs 12.5s with 3.08 rear thru the mufflers and has air conditioning. I put 10,000 miles on the GTO during 06 and ate the rear tires on the very inside edge. Has anybody had any luck with rear camber adjusters? They are unadjustable from the factory!"

NEW POST Robert adds, "The GTO is stock except I removed the rear shelf [spoiler] and I also replaced the rear bumper cover with the Holden unit. I didn't want to advertise to every one I pass that it's a GTO."

NEW POST Impulse Blue 2005 GTO owned by James Hilton from Tacoma, Washington. It is our Picture Of The Week for 3-30-08. This GTO has a dealer installed Sport Appearance Package. Only modifications that James has added so far are Flowmaster Super 44s and an H pipe in place of resonator. This picture is taken in front of the Thornewood Castle in Lakewood, Washington.

The retro-styled silver 2005 Ford Mustang concept! This was our Picture Of The Week for 3/23/03. This was the first time since this GTO web site was created that we did not feature a Pontiac as the Picture Of The Week. Why? The new 2004 GTO was introduced to the public at the winter auto shows. Response to the styling of the GTO was soooo negative. The crowds were gathered around this car, a Mustang. Pontiac fans were expressing their displeasure with the bland looks of the new GTO. One person who traveled hundreds of miles to see the GTO at the Detroit auto show was floored to see a "GTO" on display that had no styling cues of the old GTO's. He suggested that the Mustang should be the Picture Of The Week. He pointed out that the Ford designers "get it" and gave their followers what they wanted...a visually exciting performer with a muscular stance. So here it is.

This is a rendering of Doug Miller's 2005 GTO Pro Modified drag car that's currently under construction. This was our Picture Of The Week for 4/3/05. Doug tells us more, "I live in Salisbury, NC and spent much of my younger years here restoring and hot-rodding a 1969 GTO Judge Ram Air IV car. I also ran a part-time GTO and Firebird mail order parts business back in the mid-80's to support my way through college. I started to build a 1969 GTO Top
Sportsman car back in the late 80's but abandoned it to finish
college and start my career in Information Technology. I've always loved Pro Modified drag racing, and when Pontiac re-introduced
the GTO recently, I had a vision of a special 'The Judge' Pro
Modified based on the new GTO body. I found myself talking to Jerry
Bickel, St. Louis, MO, who was just getting started on a GTO Pro Modified chassis and body. I then talked with Allen Adkins with
Illusions Paint and Body in Bristol, TN (koolpaint.com) about my idea of a Judge character on the car and he immediately referred me to Roderick Burke (hotrodsbyburke.com), who specializes in artistic renderings of drag cars. Rod took my idea and turned it into something that exceeded my expectations. Jerry Bickel is well on the way on the construction of my car and I hope to have it by sometime in late Spring or early Summer 2005. The car will be fully equipped as a Pro Modified, but I'm starting out with a Top Sportsman drive train to 'get my feet wet first.' The engine is a 632 Big Chief nitrous setup from Charlie Buck (buckracingengines.com). With both stages of nitrous, the car could run in the high six second range in the 1/4 mile at around 200 mph. Allen Adkins and Mark Brown with Illusions will do the body work and paint scheme. This Summer, once I get my car, I expect I'll spend most of my time learning the ropes at my local NC tracks at Farmington, Mooresville, and Piedmont Dragwy. I'm
not sure if I'll try any national events this year, but hopefully will do that for sure in 2006."

The car will become reality. Doug sends in some pictures of the fabrication of his 2005 GTO Pro Modified drag car body and chassis. He expects to have it painted in another month.

Side view of the build-up of Doug's 2005 GTO Pro Modified drag car. It's being built at Jerry Bickel Race Cars in Moscow Mills, Missouri. They build cars and teach others how to do it. They offer a 5-book home study course on how to build a great race car. Jerry Bickel has taken years of professional chassis building experience and put it into into five modules. What can you learn? Here are the descriptions for the race car building courses as seen on his website:
Module A - Introduction - 196 pages on suspension geometry, theory, metallurgy, blueprint reading, fasteners, etc.
Module B - Related Math - 187 pages on fractions, decimals, fastener spacing, rear end width calculating, etc.
Module C - Tools & Equipment - 233 pages on measurements, tools, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, etc.
Module D - Chassis Fabrication - 212 pages on cutting, bending and notching tubing, chassis construction, suspension, engine and trans mounts.
Module E - Body & Interior - 256 pages on interior fabrication, body mounting, accessory mounts, initial settings, etc.
