Phantom Black 2005 GTO, rear end view. Those dual split exhausts are also new for 2005. See that 6.0 on the trunk? That's for the new 400hp LS2 engine that is tucked under the hood. This thing puts out 50 more HP (400hp total) over the 2004 GTO LS1 engine. How fast do you think you could take those curves if you were driving? CLICK->
The badge on the side of the 2005 GTO also boasts the 6.0L specification. There is a reflection of a classic 1967 GTO in the shiny paint. CLICK->
The Phantom Black, Torrid Red, and Quicksilver 2005 GTOs can be ordered with the optional red leather interior. The red gauges are standard with these GTO paint colors. This one has the optional 6-speed manual transmission. CLICK->

The 2005 GTO comes with this 200-Watt Blaupunkt sound system. It's got a six-CD in-dash disc changer. The volume can be set to automatically adjust depending on the car's speed. There's an equalizer that is preset to adjust to various music types. There is no news if the CD changer is MP3 compatible. The 2004 version was not, and the only change I can spot is that the display isn't green. Click here to see the 2004 GTO radio. The volume knob is conveniently placed for Australian right-hand-drive cars. CLICK->
The 200-watt Blaupunkt sound system in the 2004 GTO is connected to ten speakers. Here is the pair of 7-inch subwoofers in the rear package shelf. CLICK->

Here is the 2005 GTO 6.0L LS2 engine. The LS2 engine has 400hp and 400ft-lbs of torque. This thing puts out 50 more horsepower and 34 more foot-pounds of torque than the 2004 GTO LS1 engine. Here's a list of some of the changes on the LS2 engine: larger intake, stronger floating wrist pins on flat-top pistons, less-restrictive exhaust, improved heat shields, more efficient combustion chamber design, higher compression ratio, new E40 ECM with integral electronic throttle, higher lift camshaft, lighter water pump, lighter smaller oil pan, lower tension piston rings, and a crankcase vent redesign. Says Travis (MDNTRDR19.@AOL.com) - "I am looking for a '68 GTO. My father had one when I was younger. He promised the car to me when I turned 16. He fell on hard times and had to sell it. I just hope I can find one that is not too expensive (maybe a fixer upper) and show my father what I have bought."
