The 2005 GTO has red brake calipers with GTO emblems. That's new for 2005 too! CLICK->
Both the 2004 and 2005 GTOs sport these GTO emblems on the front fenders. The 2005 GTO has 6.0L (400hp LS2 engine) while the 2004 had 5.7L (350hp LS1 engine) on them. CLICK->
The GTO in front has hood scoops which are new for 2005. CLICK->
Here's a close-up of those new hood scoops on the 2005 GTO. CLICK->
Since the lower valance of the 2005 GTO now has the letters G T O on them. A GTO emblem was no longer required for the trunk lid. The designers added a PONTIAC emblem on the left and a 6.0 emblem on the right. CLICK->

Here is the window sticker for the Phantom Black 2004 GTO. You might be able to read it. The sticker lists the car's mechanical features, the safety and security equipment, the interior amenities, and the exterior features. CLICK->
The standard price is $32,295. Then add $1,300 for the gas guzzler tax. This tax is for the automatic transmission only. Then add another $700 for the destination charge (bottom). The total is $34,295.The Energy Tax Act of 1978 established a Gas Guzzler Tax on the sale of new model year cars (not trucks) whose window sticker fuel economy fails to meet the levels reported below. The idea is to discourage the sale and purchase of fuel inefficient vehicles.

* Combined MPG is calculated by using 55% of the posted city MPG and 45% of the posted highway MPG values. When I run through the calculation with the big numbers posted on the window sticker, I get the wrong anwser. The 2005 GTO is 16 city and 21 highway. Calculate 16*0.55+21*0.45 = 18.25 combined MPG. That would make a $2600 tax. The 2004 GTO had the same posted MPG and it has a $1000 tax. There is some little writing on the sticker about fuel ecomony which might clear this up. CLICK->

Says Dan Foley (foley.@link2000.net) - "Although it brings tears to my eyes, I love to see the GOATS out to pasture. I guess it's just my love of salvage yards."
