Nick Varnalis shares a new shot of his Phantom Black 2004 GTO. Looks like he has done some modifications. I see a new hood with hood scoops, recessed grilles, and more running lights. CLICK->

Check this out! Pontiac has given us permission to post the Movie Teaser commercial for The Last Ride, that was filmed in San Diego. It stars a Phantom Black 2004 GTO, Dennis Hopper (lower right), and Chris Carmack (lower left) in it. It premiered Wednesday, June 2nd 2004, 8:00/7:00pm Central, on the USA Network.
You might have to right-click on it and select Save As. It requires a media player to see it. We also have pictures of the Carousel Red 1969 Judge that is susposed to be in the movie too. Check it out by clicking here.

What is this? A new GTO with hood scoops? Here is a composite photo I made showing the new GTO appearing in the movie trailer for The Last Ride. Tony McCrary (tmccrary@ndindustries.com) first noticed it when he slowed down the trailer and observed it's six frames containing this red car. He says, "After watching The Last Ride teaser video, I noticed a quick glimpse at a red modern GTO with hood scoops. The front fascia and spoiler looks like it
might be from the GTO Autocross concept Pontiac unveiled a while back at SEMA (I think). That concept didn't have hood scoops, this one does."Click here and compare with the 2004 GTO Autocross Concept. The front end is lower on this one from what I can tell. Or is this a quick glimpse of what's in store for the 2005 GTO from Pontiac? CLICK->The Last Ride movie poster shows both the Carousel Red 1969 Judge and the Phantom Black 2004 GTO. CLICK->
Dan Long attended the Hollywood Premiere of The Last Ride movie for UltimateGTO.com. He snapped pictures of the modified Torrid Red 2004 GTO that was spotted in the preview. Here's Dennis Hopper leaning against it. CLICK->
Here's a good view of the front end of the modified Torrid Red 2004 GTO that appears in The Last Ride movie. That is one big air intake below the grille. Click here to see the aftermarket hood scoops that other owners have installed. Click here to see the hood scoops that site visitors have drawn. CLICK->
Another angle of the front of the modified Torrid Red 2004 GTO that appears in The Last Ride movie. Is this what we will see for the 2005 GTO? CLICK->
The closeup reveals that the hood scoops are open. The scoops outer edge follows the creases in the outer edge of the hood nicely. There was a lot of work done on this car that was used in The Last Ride movie. CLICK->
There's changes in the rear on this modified Torrid Red 2004 GTO used in The Last Ride movie. Looks like dual exhausts exiting on each side. CLICK->
Yep, we have exhausts in each corner. That's a nice change. Take a look at that spoiler! That's much more similar to the spoiler used on the 1969 Judge. This car is pictured at The Last Ride Hollywood movie premiere. CLICK->

Here's the modified Torrid Red 2004 GTO sitting on display at the Hollywood movie premiere of The Last Ride. Steve Lucas, President of the Cruisin' Tigers GTO Club attended an advance showing of the movie in May of 2004. Here is his report: Last night, Jim Stern, myself, and about 75 other Cruisin' Tigers saw "The Last Ride" at a special preview at a Loews' Theater sponsored by PMD. The same preview was shown in NY City, Detroit, Miami, and LA the same night.
I'm no movie critic. But, I automatically rate all the movies **** (4 stars) before seeing the movie. For each/every time I doze off, I subtract a *. That's all it takes is one 5 minute 'flat spot' in a movie and I'm asleep. (I get the elbow from Jane when I start snoring)
I did not fall asleep during "The Last Ride." By far a much better movie than "Two Lane Blacktop." But of course, film writers and acting have come a long way since the '70s. I would recommend taping this movie when it premiers on the USA Network channel. It's worth watching it again when you have absolutely nothing to do.
The movie had some nice driving scenes of a Carousel Red '69 Judge (could have seen more of that) but mainly showed a black, red, and yellow '04 GTO. I must say, the '04 sounded GRRR8. Try to remember the VIN # when Dennis Hopper blurts it out after having memorized it for 30 years while in jail. Beware! The ending will make you cry. CLICK->
Another site visitor examined this modified The Last Ride Torrid Red 2004 GTO movie car at Schwan Pontiac in Bismarck/Mandan, North Dakota. Here is a picture of the passenger side "dual" exhaust from the underside. Notice anything wrong? It's a fake! PICTURE SET CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE ...
