This is the engine that will power the 2004 GTO. This was our Picture Of The Week for 9/28/03. It's an "all-aluminum 5.7L Gen III LS1 V8 with 350 horsepower @ 5200 rpm and 365 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm" It's suppose to take the GTO 0-60 in the mid-five second range. Jeff from Omaha Nebraska owns a Cosmos Purple 2004 GTO that left these tracks. This was our Picture Of The Week for 2/1/04. Jeff's friend Rocky Rotella sent these pictures in. Rocky tells us, "A definite healthy rumble comes from true dual exhaust with a balance tube. I was given the opportunity to get behind the wheel and take it for a spin. Although the streets are wet in spots we were able to still jump on it a few times. Acceleration is smooth and torque quickly passing through the low RPMs into the mid range. Since the car has less than 35 miles on it and with the fresh motor I limited myself to about 2/3 throttle. It feels very strong, much like the 01-02 LS1 Firebird/Camaro if anyone is familiar with their characteristics. Handling is tight and ride is exceptional. Interior room was plenty accommodating for my 6'3" plus frame. Car is very attractive with what appears to be well built body." CLICK->
