John Grech from Australia sends in his version of the 2004 lowered and made into a UTE. UTE stands for Utility (from "utility vehicle"). It means a light truck with an open body and low sides in Australia and New Zealand. This is similar to the old US born Rancheros and El Caminos.

Torrid Red 2004 GTO owned by James Gaston from Pinhurst, North Carolina. James tells us about his customized goat, "I have installed a hood, light flywheel, and lowering kit was from SLP. The second cats have been removed and the rest of the exhaust system has been replaced with 2 1/2 inch pipe connected to 40 series Flowmasters with Escalade exhaust tips for the final touch. If you notice in the pictures, it is true dual exhaust and has been fabricated to appear as if it were stock. I added hood pins because the car has no problems reaching the 190 mph mark. The gears have been replaced with 3.91 ratio and is awaiting the performance dyno tune." The stock rear is 3.46. A 3.91 rear will give the GTO higher torque to the ground at lower speeds, but what does it do to James' top speed? Click Here to load James' driveline specs into our Top Speed Calculator. Compare to the top speed of 157mph in 5th and 232mph in 6th for the stock driveline. This assumes that the max rpm didn't change and doesn't take into account wind resistance.

Turismo (blue) 2002 Holden Monaro Bryan Thalbourne from Adelaide SA, Australia. This car is very similar in style to the 2004 Pontiac GTO. Bryan tells us more, "This car is ex-Design Director Michael Simcoe's Monaro company car. He had three built in this non-standard colour until he was happy with the formulation (one other lives in Adelaide South Australia too). At least one Commodore sedan was built with this colour. Then reputedly 30 Series 3 coupes were painted this colour prior to it being an option on the VZ Monaro and HSV GTO coupe. Why it's not a Pontiac GTO color I cannot say. Michael did several upgrades to the car; essentially engine,
exhaust, cal., brakes, wheels, and tyres. Sadly these have been
'undone' prior to my purchase. I bought it direct from Holden in
March 2005 by keeping in touch with it's progress after seeing it at a (Monaro Club) function in Victoria in July 2003. Michael has promised to provide me with the specifications of the upgrades he did so I can redo them."

Yellow Jacket 2004 GTO owned by Ed Falcon from Puerto Rico. Ed tells us about his GTO, "This is my 2004 which I got brand new in 2005 for $10k under the MSRP. Needless to say the dealer was hot to sell. Living in Puerto Rico, the four cylinder capital of the world, it's hard to find V8 performance cars, much less a special breed like the GTO. There's only about six or seven on the roads here so it's no wonder everybody stops to talk to me about the car. At traffic lights I get other drivers asking me questions about it. A couple of times even panhandlers have expressed their admiration of the car. Today, Oct. 28, 2005, a guy in a 2005 Mustang GT blocked traffic to ask me about my car. But the funniest thing is when these guys in their little Japanese 'cucarachas' like Suzuki Balenos, Toyota Echos, or Honda Civics try to piss me off and make me run with them. My criteria for street racing is: for the cost of gasoline nowadays whoever runs with me has to be willing to spend as much in gas as I'm going to. I only know of one other yellow GTO that's out on the streets here. I know it's a 2005 model that's distinguishable by its hood and rear. I decided to make mine unique. So I went for the 19 inch HP wheels which everybody loves and also the 'Judge' replica stripes. Next up are bigger rotors and calipers followed by a supercharger and exhaust."
