This was our Picture Of The Week for 8/8/99. A 1969 Carousel Red Judge hardtop with a black interior from Vinnie. CLICK->
Sal Mola spent 5-1/2 years restoring this Judge. But in October of 2002, Sal had some sad news. A lady pulled out about 50 feet in front of Sal while he was going 55 mph. POOF no more Judge. That is the flatbed driver in the photo. CLICK->
I asked Sal if he got hurt, "Not physically. Emotionally it was hard to take. After all, I did spend 5-1/2 years restoring it. Perhaps you would like a couple of photos of it as it is now to show the guys how important it is to "watch out for the other idiot". Here are the pictures of my Judge on the flatbed. A sad ending to a
beautiful car." About the unfortunate accident, Sal said, "She told the police that she just didn't look. Amazing. Just not paying attention." CLICK->
I asked Sal if the insurance treated him fairly as far as the
claim amount. He said, "Remember, this was not a matching number car. The engine and even the frame were not original. But because of the condition it was in, (95-98 points per show) the number of trophys won at shows (38) and the fact that High Performance Pontiac did a three page spread on the car in Jan 2002, plus a lot of information
supplied by me and the restoration shop, I wound up getting $31,200.00. Not too bad." CLICK->
Sal added, "The car is now at the restoration shop being stripped of all usable parts. I have the (very bent) frame and drivetrain
in my garage, getting ready to go into a new frame. It was funny, when I had the Judge towed to the restoration shop, the owner told me he had just seen an ad for one, the same year and same color as mine. He found the ad, called up and went to see it. It was a PHS documented 1969 Judge, Liberty Blue with almost no options. This was no problem as we will take mine and put them in this car. It had no engine or trans, but came with a second frame that was already powder coated, and it also had new quarters. We bought it and will use my old one as
a donor car." This is a good reminder to people to drive carefully. Keep the insurance current on your car. And for goodness sakes, don't pull out in front of a Judge! CLICK->
This was our Picture Of The Week for 3/5/00. It is owned by Ralph Keith from Winchester, Tennesse. He says he spotted the car behind a tire shop. It had been sitting there for 8 years. Ralph decided to stop by and make an offer. $3,500 later and a coat of Carousel Red paint, he won three trophies in two events. (1st, 2nd, and the local Sheriff's department choice award). CLICK->
