This burgundy 1968 GTO was sent in by Eric Tennett. Eric says the car is 99% original. 1st paint job was just completed in March, 1999. 68k original miles on this totally rust free, number matcher (except for alternator), 2nd owner car. The car has been a phantom for 20 years as it has been garaged and rarely driven by a little old lady in Florida. Factory options are Safe-T-Track, remote mirror, decklid release, wide oval white
wall tires, tinted windows all around, speed minder, auto, door edge guards.

1968 GTO - A project car. I'd like to have that new hood for my car! Who sent this picture in?

A hood tach is a popular accessory to add to a GTO. If you order one of these through mail order, ask them to also send you a template. They'll send you a piece of paper that shows the exact dimensions to cut the hole in your hood. The most common method is to use a new 4" holesaw on a drill. A new saw will make a nice round hole in a matter of seconds.

This 1968 GTO was sent in by Jim Smithbauer (jsmithba@ford.com) in Birmingham, Michigan. Jim says it's a matching numbers 400 HO with the 4-speed manual, Verdoro Green paint with a Parchment interior and White top. Jim says he wanted one of these ever since he was a kid. His dad had a '69 LeMans convertible in Verdoro Green with a Parchment interior. He traded the car in on a new '73 Grand Prix, but Jim always wanted that LeMans convertible back. Now Jim currently owns 4 convertibles: The GTO, a '67 RS/SS Camaro, a '74 Eldorado, and a '97 Miata. He finally has a car like his dad's, only nicer, since it's a Goat!
