This 1968 GTO is owned by Helge Wettre (wettre@c2i.net). This California car resided in Texas, then Helge had it transported to Norway in 1998.

Of course, this 1968 GTO convertible has the 400 engine with a 400 Turbo Hydramatic transmission and Dual Gate shifter. That's a perfect car for cruising around.

Yes, this engine makes some power. Here, Helge's 68 GTO does 14.9 seconds at 91 MPH at Houston Raceway Park. He says:"That was good fun!"

Another view of the 1968 GTO at a Rod Run in Beaumont Texas. The car benefitted from a suspension upgrade with new sway bars and KYB gas shocks. It likes to chirp the tires on a first to second gear shift. He shipped the car to Norway in May of 1998.

Unfortunately, during the trip to Norway, someone stole a part off the
1968 GTO. Helge explains: "Unfortunately, the custom sport horn button bezel on my steering wheel was stolen during transport to Norway. In my country, it's not too easy to find a replacement so I hope one of you guys can help. Either with a bezel or the entire steering wheel, with or without the column. I'm interested in everything and will pay big bucks to the guy that can help e."
If you can help him, please email Helge Wettre in Norway atwettre@c2i.net.

Pete Pinkoski (pink@netsync.net) sends us this picture of his 1968 GTO convertible. He says: "Need a picture of my goat? 400 auto, buckets, dual gate, air, hideaways, tilt column, power bucket on driver's side, 390's, Rally II's, Fast, Fast, Fast."

Ken Lulloff (KLulloff@officetech.com) of Neenah, Wisconsin says: "I just bought a 68 GTO convertible. The guy who had it before me chromed the hood scoops for some reason."

Craig Selvey from Albany, Indiana snapped these photos of a 1968 GTO. He was traveling through the state taking pictures of cars for his employer, Indiana Auto & RV. They put out a fine publication full of cars for sale each week. Best of all, it's FREE. This car was sitting in a parking lot somewhere.

Craig points out that this shiny car has a huge scratch on the door of this 1968 GTO. Oops!

These next photos are not for the squeamish. If you are frightened by the sight of a neglected disabled 1968 GTO convertible, turn back! The current owner of this car found it in the garage of an abandoned house. He checked this web site and verified the car was a GTO. He then rescued this hulk and shoved it over to his house. Stephen Miller (Crosley@webtv.net) tells us about the first photo: "The right front tire was the only one with air in it. Notice the red tube at the bottom of the windshield? That's lipstick! Not my color!"
