Here's Jason's Goat in the shop. Jason explains, "After a long search I found a restoration shop which specialized in GTO restorations - Best of Show Auto Restorations in Newcastle, Pennsylvania. A year and half with over 2,000 hours of labor it was brought back to new condition. Very few NOS parts were used since the original ones were still in great shape. The rear quarters were replaced to rid the usual rust in the upper wheel wells and keep it Bondo free. The drivetrain was rebuilt to spec." Check out the vintage decal on the vent window. Kenny tells us, "This is a numbers matching convertible with factory 4-speed, hideaway headlights, power steering, power brakes, power top and a lot of time and money spent on this car. Here is a 1968 GTO convertible that was restored in 2007. It was sent in by S. Kellett. The car has Rally2 wheels and BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is seen outside a bodyshop. CLICK->

Verdoro Green 1968 LeMans convertible owned by Joe Wolf from Canyon Lake, Texas. Joe fills us in on his LeMans find, "I got lucky on the car. The seller, who was the second owner, had bought another car and sold this one. When the sale of this one fell thru he had to find a buyer fast. I just happened to see it parked with a sign in the window. I made a lowball offer since I really want a GTO, Chevelle SS or 442 convertible, and he took it. It has the upper end 350, and an Edelbrock manifold and 4 barrel carb have been installed. The top and Verdoro paint are 2 years old, but the car was garaged. I scraped a few rust 'scabs' off of the trunk floor and POR-15'd and painted the trunk interior with the proper fleck paint and sealer... and restored the jack and wheel. I replaced the plastic seat backs. New carpet is next, then kick panels with speakers for the aftermarket FM/cassette radio...re-chrome the back bumper, detail the engine room and she's good to go. It's a 92,000 mile AT, PS, PB, AC original otherwise...for a $10,500 sale price...sometimes chicken, sometimes feathers." CLICK->
Verdoro Green 1968 LeMans convertible, front end view. Joe Wolf wrote in with a question about instrument cluster lamps. He said, "Where can I find some advice about whether to replace the miserable instrument panel bulbs with LED or halogen?" My response was this, "I have the same problem with my '68 hardtop GTO. A few years ago I was studying making a kit to replace ALL the bulbs in a GTO with LED equivalents. I ordered some various LED bulbs to try them out. All were less than half the brightness of a normal bulb. It was disappointing. Even if the guys selling LED bulbs said they were 'bright' or 'super bright' I found them to be dimmer than a conventional bulb when viewed in moderate sunlight. I ordered some LED bulbs to replace my brake lights too. The heads on them were too big to fit into the sockets. The seller said they would fit, but they were not even close. The LED cluster would not fit all the way down into the tail lamp housing. So I guess the LED technology has some catching up to do. Let me know if you find any solutions." Joe then responded to my message about LED replacement bulbs like this, "It's a pity that the Goats and Junior Goats suffer from poor design on the instrument lighting. I printed the page I found on your site that shows the back side of the instrument cluster. I was shocked to see that there are 10 bulbs plus a possible two more for a Rally clock. Only the bright lights bulb is working, tho' the fuse is good. I hope I don't have a more serious problem. Working under the dash is like tonsillectomy thru the rectum. I am trying to research halogen bulbs." CLICK->
