Green 1969 GTO convertible, right rear view. The best way to verify the authenticity of a car is through a company called Pontiac Historic Services. Using a car's VIN number, they can look up the specific paperwork on a car. P.H.S. has a copy of the original archived papers and will send out copies for a small fee. They say that a high percentage of "GTOs" they research turn out to be a LeMans in disguise. That is no surprise, seeing as how a car bearing "GTO" nameplates is worth more money than a car bearing "LeMans" nameplates. The P.H.S. website is at http://www.phs-online.com
