FRAME-OFF RESTORATION GALLERY

Let's do a frame-off on a 1969 GTO Judge hardtop
In words and pictures.

A 1969 GTO Judge is a very desireable car. Sal Mola (bluejudge69@hotmail.com) not only desired to have a
Judge... but he desired to have one in pristine condition. This hardtop was
torn apart and then carefully reassembled over a 5 year period. It was repainted in the
luxurious shade of Liberty Blue.
You may remember seeing this car as the featured "Picture Of The Week" on
this web site. It was the first GTO of the new millennium, posted on 1/1/00.

IN THE BODY SHOP

Doors are off. Interior is out. Fenders are off.

Trunk lid is off. Glass is out.

The lower rear quarter panel was cut out to do a repair. This is a common repair
for any show car that has seen rust or body damage.
CLICK->
This panel was cut away to reveal the rear wheelhouse.
CLICK->
The right rear corner of the rear window. This is an area of frequent rustout.
CLICK->
Another area of common rustout is at the bottom of the windshield. These rust holes
were revealed after media blasting. There were also rust holes in the trunk floor.

The hood is being sanded by an invisible man.

Primed parts hanging around the shop.
INTERIOR

Dashboard guts as seen from behind.

More dashboard guts. This looks like the part behind the heater controls.

The dash area and steering wheel can be seen. This is a 4-speed car with no
console, with Rally gauges, clock, hood tach, power steering, power disc brakes,
AM/FM radio (non stereo) with rear speaker. Note how you can see the "RAM AIR"
knob under the steering column.

finish their current restoration project.

Left rear. See the tail lights and the cool Judge spoiler on the trunk lid.
Oops! The Judge got totalled in October of 2002 by a lady that pulled in front of
the Judge. She was 50 feet in front of the Judge. The Judge was going 55 MPH. POOF!
No more Judge. The insurance company and the restoration shop both said it was
totalled. Email the owner, Sal Mola (bluejudge69@hotmail.com) and ask him a question
or two.
