Montero Red 1966 GTO hardtop owned by Jay Konkle from Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Jay tells us, "I bought my car about 10 years ago. When I got it had 70,000 miles on the clock. The body was as solid as they come. No rust to speak of and it still had the original vinyl top and upholstery. I won't tell what I paid for back then - it would make you sick. Since that time I have added power disk brakes and rebuilt the chassis front and back - new springs bushings shocks etc. The rear has 3 inch spacers to lift the rear a bit. The power steering was rebuilt with a 3-to-1 gear box from a 70 LeMans. I have coated headers and 2.5" exhaust with X-Pipe and Flowmasters. I rebuilt the 10-bolt rear end it is a stock 3.55. The motor has been completely gone through balanced and blue printed with forged pistons, comp cam, electronic ignition, and a Tri-Power to top the power plant off. Last winter [2006] the car was stripped to bare metal, primed and repainted by CnC detailing in New Haven, Indiana. - normal stuff, clear coat base coat. I had all the stainless straightened and de-dented, re-chromed anything that needed it, and put a new vinyl top on. I go to shows all over northern Indiana and I am a member of the Northeast Indiana GTO Club and GTOAA. So if you see me, come say hi. I love to talk about GTOs."
