| Hawk: | | Unfortunately, the '72 455 H.O. was crippled by low compression (as were all '72 American performance V8s). Therefore it needed all the help it could get; that factory Ram Air system certainly helped. |
| Humberleman: | | I have been a Pontiac enthusiast since the 1970s. I have owned a few GTOs over the years including my current 1970 Ram Air IV GTO, 4 speed with 4.33 gears. The 455HO GTO even with low compression is still a very serious muscle car. The 455HO makes tons of torque at low RPM. What a 455HO need to run into the 13s is a mild carb tuneup, distributor advance kit and tire pressure attention. The 455HO GTOs also run a bit better with 3.73 gears. Stock they are a solid 14 second car. |
