Silver preproduction 2005 GTO, right rear view. We got split dual exhausts coming out of a newly designed rear valance. Compare with a 2004. The 2004 GTO had them both exiting out one side. How did they get the second exhaust out the back? They modifed the gas tank and reduced the trunk size to 7 cubic feet (down 2 cubic feet). There is a dealer installed Autocross option available on the black, silver, and red 2005 GTOs. The option has new front fascia extensions, side rocker moldings, rear fascia extensions with custom dual/dual exhaust tips, and a unique spoiler and front grille insert. You can check out the Autocross option install on 2004 GTOs with our Advanced Picture Searcher.

81x11: MUCH better! Do wish they'd add some more aggressive wheels and it needs a power sunroof. Heck, you can get a sunroof in a Sunfire!
GTO Nutz: Well Bob y'all done something right this time. You've done it the way it should have been last year! But, wow, an LS2 V8 this year. Holy mother - man, this girl goin go! And I thought 350hp was a lot. Viper beaters, here we come! Where's my Judge Mr. Lutz? Or is that next year's change? And then how about an all new American built-design! Awh thats it is sure coming along nice! Yeah those 18 inchers sure will be nice for the track.
mdavis: Just came from the dealer and saw the pre-sales info on the '05. LS2 6.0 liter 400HP, 395 lbs/ft torque. Same radio (no FM satellite, no OnStar) probably because the antenna in the rear glass won't work with them and they want to keep the car clean. Duals out each side (no big deal for me -- heck, Ferrari's aren't even split that way -- do what works and forget the eye candy). 0-60 times are said to be 4.6 automatic and 4.8 manual (hunh? who's driving?). New automatic is somehow "pre-loaded" for quicker launches, but it will probably cost yet more mpg. Where else can you get a 6-speed with 400HP and close to 30mpg? IMHO a slushbox should be illegal in this car. No EPA mileage figures yet. Personally, I like the "sleeper" styling. New 18" wheels available should help skidpad numbers vs. the 'Stang. Bigger brakes to help the 60-0 numbers. Red calipers with GTO logo on them. I passed on the '04 because of the radio, but a 6.0 liter might just do it.
ThatTABoy: All this car needs is a set of Torq-Thrusts II and and to get rid of the spoiler. Maybe 2 inches lower, no more.
splr: The problem with this model is that it has dissolved previous models muscle image, lost its "soul". Just another nicely drawn car, there's nothing unusual or especially original in it. Want a really mean look & lots of fun? Car that hasn't lost its heritage? Buy Skyline GT-R, M5 or SLK AMG :D
