Bruce: Thanks for the great photos Larry. Very interested to hear your comments. Everyone that sees them says they look better in the metal than in the photos. The body seems to be the one point that everyone comments on (negatively). I guess "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" as they say. The interior looks stunning. According to all the reports it handles very well and goes like a ... well goes very fast. Can't wait to see one and hopefully take one for a test run.
Hiswayrocks: A Holden Monaro is a wonderful car under any name. So far, no dealers have been able to locate Quicksilver Metallic with Red interior and a 6 speed. I will buy this car!
Sean S, Delaware: I have to agree with Larry on the looks of the car. In the photos they look OK but not brilliant. But after having gone to Australia for holidays/work 3 months ago, all I can say, is wow. These cars look fantastic up close, especially what they call the HSV versions, GTS and GTO. The spoiler kits on those cars make it look even better than the GTO we are getting. I think their GTS has about 300kw which is about 420 horsepower. They even have the Callaway people in US working on their engines. As soon as I came back I put an order in for one. My Aussie mates told me that Chubby Checker shipped a GTS Monaro over to the states after he saw one about a year ago. I ordered Impulse Blue with the auto. Anyway, Cheers.
dbaer: I am so freakin excited, I think the red one is the one I ordered back in June. (ha ha) Got my letter with my build # and I called 1 800 2 pontiac and had them check on my build #. She was born 09/15/03 Willing to go pick it up myself :-)
dlbrac: I am 48 years old and have owned many used GTO's some nice some not so nice, I have read every article, every book and seen every old ad clip over and over. It is great to finally be reading new stories, to pick up a Motor Trend Mag and see a New GTO. Gentlemen and ladies, a new chapter has just begun. Will this car evolve, will there be a new Royal Program in the wings, can this car bring back the young crowd into the Pontiac Showrooms? This all remains to be seen. One thing is sure like it or hate it, it has fueled passion in us all. Personally I have ordered a Black on Black 6 speed. I will wait for final judgement when it arrives at my dealership. The excitement alone of finally ordering a Brand New GTO is exciting. No it doesn't have hood scoops or wood wheel or reverb but I really believe this is close to what would have been if Pontiac continued to make it, and it is American. The LS1 drive train is USA, besides Australia is one of the countries that likes us. By the way, I own a 1965 Convertible, it is an exact clone to the White Hurst Convertible in Pontiac Enthusiast Mag Nov/Dec 2003 issue. Maybe I should wait for the 2005 to come out, what do you think???? (edited)
ricynathan@hotmail.com: I can see where all my brother's work goes into building such a true Aussie/Yank Tank, sports car. He works at Holden on the production line floor. He was tellin' me to keep pretty quiet about the Pontiac GTO untill it was on sale! "The yanks are going to **** themselfs when they thrash it hard on the roads!"
Hiswayrocks: Just took delivery of one just like this in Reno, NV. AT MSRP. So far its great, now I have 3 hot rods; SHO, WRX, GTO Hisway does Rock!
