Spiff: Hey nice goat..... can't wait to see it in red. was wondering where i could get a 74' shaker hood for mine. Really brings it out on your model. Thanks!
lonnie james. novascotia.canada: This reminds me of my 74 in 2000. It's a 350 4speed original and has been driven every summer since 2002. Don't rush it just enjoy it when finished. At a local show in 2005, only 2 74 GTOs out of 2000 cars at show. (edited)
Hawk: Didn't the '74 GTO and Trans Am share the same shaker scoop? If so, that would make it a LITTLE easier to find a scoop, but not much.
Humlerman: The GTO hood scoop was functional in 1974. The Trans Am was not. Makes no sense at all but with such a low HP rating it didn't do much in regard to performance. The GTO in 1974 could be a real neat street machine with just a bigger cam and better exhaust. My opinion is you have a 1974 GTO change the cam, mills the heads and install higher compression pistons and drop in a 3.73 posi. You'll smile all the way down the track and run 14s all day.
