mysticfalls2004: | | You 73 GTO owners may appreciate just how hard it is to get that wheelwell trim. I have two true 73 GTO's (ok, one is a parts car) and haven't been able to locate that trim. |
Greg Carter: | | It's easier to get hen's teeth, than it is to get the wheelwell moldings. They show up on Ebay about every other blue moon, and when they do, make sure you have a healthy bank account! (edited) |
Hawk: | | Isn't it frustrating that it should be so hard to get something as minor as wheel-well trim? And in this car's case, good luck trying to get the tail-light lens. The GTO lens is NOT the same as the LeMans lens. The LeMans lens has two chrome-paint outlines that divide the lens in two. Note the GTO lens here has only one outline, going around the entire lens. |

RonA 68: | | Anyone else notice the faded 455CID decal on the left side of the trunk lid? This isn't factory, is it? |
K8EO: | | I don't believe that 455CID on the decklid is factory. Good point, I didn't even notice it. I tried a couple of places to see if anybody was interested in making aftermarket W.O.M. for these cars, but no luck. Not surprising, simply not enough of a market it warrant it. By the way that is the correct lens for the GTO. The Lemans lens is the same. The lenses with 2 vertical dividers are for the Grand lemans, the ones with a single horizontal divider are for the G/A. |
Hawk: | | Good point about the 455 CID decklid decal. I suspect it isn't factory because on the '73 GTO, Pontiac used a decal that read, 455 c.i.d. In other words, the 'c.i.d' wasn't in caps, and there was a period after each letter. The decal was on each front fender, placed just after the wheel wells. In this photo, the 'CID' is in caps, and there are no periods. |
