Pontiac didn't make any convertible GTOs in 1972. They would not let you select the GTO option on the LeMans Sport convertible in 1972, but you could select the $41 GTO nose job! There were 163 of these created. For the $41 you got the GTO endura bumper, hood, and front fenders! The GTO was an option on the LeMans Sport in 1972. You cannot tell a LeMans Sport from a GTO optioned LeMans sport from the VIN. So this IS about the closest thing to a 1972 GTO convertible you could get. Steve Robbins from Oakville, Ontario, Canada has owned this beauty since 1974. It was originally purchased from the Toronto showroom of Roy Foss Motors for $3663.00. It was built on May 23, 1972, and was sold in August of same year.
