UltimateGTO.com staff member Craig George rediscovered this Cardinal Red 1971 GTO convertible at a Brookville, Indiana car show in July of 2007. He owned it back in 1979-80 while in law school and sold when his son Eric was born. Craig adds, "When I saw the heater core had been bypassed and the car had come with honeycomb wheels and factory A/C, I KNEW this was my old Droptop GOAT! I spoke to the current owner at length. He had purchased it about four years ago in southern Indiana. The paint needs to be redone but he says it still drives like new."

marriard: This is why I find it so hard to bring myself to sell any of my cars. I'd hate to run into my 'old' car in either better or worse condition than when I sold it. At least this one looks like someone is taking care of it.
minnesota-muscle: I had a 66 GTO tri-power 4spd that I sold back in 1991. A friend purchased it in 2007 and then I had a chance to buy it back at 3x the price I sold it for. I had to pass since I had just bought a 69 RAIV Judge so I was a little short on money :)
Mr66: I regards to the comment above, from marriard: In my early 20s I had a full size 2dr Buick w/factory 455 4barrel. The car was in excellent original shape, elderly owned, and rust-free. I had to sell it when I got my first 'old' Pontiac (66 LeMans conv) because I then had what was considered to be too many cars & had to prioritize. The new owners of my Buick seemed to be very interested in taking care of it, and were really happy w/their new purchase. Well I stumbled across my old 455 a couple years later as it sat parallel parked in a downtown district.. with its bashed in front fender & driver door, and it looked like it had sat outside & been used throughout the NY winters. Lesson learned: 'Sometimes it's better not to know'
