Verdoro Green 1969 GTO hardtop project owned by Westley T Hanbury from Floreffe, Pennsylvania. Westley had this to say, "I bought this car to restore into a driver-quality car. When I first saw the car from the rear at a junky car-lot, I thought it was a LeMans because of the
tail lights. It was extremely rusted having sat since '84. As if that were not enough, the engine had caught fire at some point. I liked this car because it was well optioned and all original. I figured out the fire occurred when someone tried to get the engine running with stuck valves and tried a new Holley carb in the mis-diagnosis, which probably back-fired a ton of gas in the engine compartment and ignited. Fortunately, the original Quadrajet was in the trunk. Believe it or not, two years and many lessons-learned later the car is running excellent and almost ready for paint. Also worth noting is how late this car was built( 9-15-69 ), has to be one of the last '69 GTO's produced."
