Official Manuela Arcuri: | | It's great to see the cars in action like this. Look at the crowd. They have their reactions. This is a model vintage photograph. Here in Italy, there aren't so many dragstrips. |
Ram Air X: | | I'm quite sure that's Milt Scornack driving. That Goat was one mean machine. It would have been a perfect production Hemi eater. |
Humblerman: | | Milt had this RAV GTO running low 11s using the 400 cubic inch engine. Before they tested the RAV engine Milt had this car delivered with a Ram Air IV and in his book the Royal Bobcat GTOs the RAIV engine pushed the GTO to 11.70s. All from a car weighing 3600 pounds. Where were those mighty Stage 1 Buicks and other 455 powered cars when this car was roaming the streets on Woodward Ave. Glory Days talks about this GTO blowing a modified 440 Wedge Mopar off the road on Woodward which shouldn't be surprising. Pontiacs have always shown their power on the streets going back to the early SD389 and SD421 cars. If you ever get a chance to take a ride in a RAIV GTO with an M-21 and 4.33 gears you really can't understand just how fast these GTOs are. Forget magazine articles back in 1970s. You can't race a car with 14 x 6 puny tires and expect fast times. Milt also raced another 1970 RAIV GTO with an automatic and 4.33 gears into the 11.70s. That's 7\10ths from a 10 second car. |
