Vintage picture of Bill Metzger's 1965 GTO Sport Coupe taken in 1967. Bill explains, "I'm almost 70 and but still in love with the memories of my '65, lost to rust back in the 1970s. Salt on western New York roads was the killer. Here is a shot of my car "improved" by changing the interior of the letters GTO on the rear quarters from black to red. Red always set off that dark blue nicely. By this time in 1967, I had run through several sets of tires. The W/Ws (see the sticker) were no better than the Tiger Paws and wore out in 8000 miles. The Firestone Wide Ovals I purchased next were a dismal flop as well. What you see are the biggest Firestone 500s that would (almost) fit without rubbing too much."
